FORTRESS OF MEMORY — The Ngao Museum Restoration & Fortification

Ngao Museum is the first and only museum in Tana River County. It stands as the guardian of our collective memory—a place where the artifacts, stories, and spirit of the Pokomo people and all Tana River communities are preserved for future generations. Located in the heart of Ngao village, surrounded by the history of Lake Shakababo and the Tana Delta, this museum is more than a building. It is the starting point for every story we will tell, every tourist we will welcome, and every cultural victory we will achieve.

But right now, it is fighting for its life.

VOICE OF THE DELTA — Digital Storytelling & Marketing

Tana Delta has the stories. The culture. The beauty. The pain. The hope. We have the oldest Swahili roots in the Pokomo people. We have Mau Mau history in Hola. We have wildlife that once included the big five. We have a Ramsar site and a UNESCO tentative location. We have elders whose memories hold centuries of knowledge.

But the world does not know us.

Not because we lack value. But because we have lacked voice.

THE LIVING CELEBRATION — Cultural Events & Festivals

Culture is not meant to sit in museums. It is not meant to be locked behind glass, viewed in silence, and forgotten. Culture is meant to be danced. It is meant to be sung. It is meant to be celebrated, shared, and passed from hand to hand in moments of joy.
